Parish Administrator in Halas Team Halesowen

​

The Parochial Church Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of Halas is looking for a part-time Parish Administrator to work in the Parish Office in Halesowen.   

​

Major tasks and responsibilities

​

Your key responsibilities will be:   

  • All day to day administrative duties of the Halas Parish Office.

  • External and internal communications throughout the Halas Parish.

  • The proper and efficient operation of the Halas Team Ministry.

  • Supporting four Team Clergy operating across five local Churches.

 

Personal specification

​

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Office experience including the development, management and operation of administrative systems, ICT packages, good IT and organisational, secretarial and personal assistant skills.

  • A NVQ Level 3 in Administration or equivalent or relevant experience.

  • Experience and understanding of finance and accounting systems, financial record keeping including processing of invoices, cash handling and reconciliation, maintaining simple accounting records, employment, PAYE systems.

  • Able to deal efficiently with tact, empathy and confidentially with anyone contacting the Parish Office.

  • Effective communication skills in the office and with the general public.

  • Good numeracy, literacy, verbal and written skills.

  • Ability to use relevant technology and equipment including, computer, photocopier, spread sheets, internet, electronic diaries, maintain, operate and manage the web page.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to arranging meetings, taking accurate minutes, making and confirming bookings for baptisms, weddings and funerals, provide various reprographic services as required, maintaining and updating regularly the Parish webpage and completing any other reasonably requested tasks as required from time to time.

  • Willingness to undertake the relevant training as required.

  • Experience handling a diverse workload with multiple stakeholders and keeping to deadlines across a range of tasks that influence and impact each other.

  • Confidentiality.

  • Ability to work alone on your own as well as part of a team constructively.

  • A knowledge of equality and diversity issues and comply with the Parish commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.

  • This list is not exhaustive and priorities may change by mutual agreement with the Team Rector. 

  • A desire to serve the Church and enabling it to thrive. Commitment to Kingdom People values: love, compassion, justice and freedom and able to work within these values.

  • Understanding Church roles and responsibilities and structures of the Church of England would be helpful.

  • A willingness to work occasional hours in the evenings and at weekends.

 

Please also note:

  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and a satisfactory Parish safer recruitment check will be required prior to an offer of employment being made.

  • The post will be responsible to the Rector or Priest in charge.

  • The post will be subject to the contract of employment and the parish handbook policies, which can be viewed on request.

  • The post holder will be expected to participate in an annual performance appraisal.

  • The post will be reviewed after a six month probation period. 

  • The office is based in Halesowen Town Centre. This is currently under review. Should the office location change it will remain within the Halas Parish boundary.

  • Hours will be Monday to Friday 9-30am to 3.30pm with a 1 hour lunch break. There could be some flexibly of working hours.

  • £13,000 per annum for a 25 hour working week (£10.00/Hour).

  • A work place pension will be paid where applicable.

  • 28 days holiday per annum including (8) Statutory and Bank Holidays

  • There is an opportunity for flexible working hours and the post may be considered suitable as a job share.

  • The post will commence on 4th January 2021,
